On the 5th and 6th of October, we, the Skyrunners, had the privilege of participating in the Mekong Cup 2024 ultimate frisbee tournament in Thailand. It was an incredible experience for our players to immerse themselves in the competitive spirit of the game, showcase their skills, and build connections within the wider ultimate frisbee community. For our young players, newly introduced to the sport, this was an eye-opening opportunity to witness the intensity of tournament play and understand the high level of competition and spirit that defines ultimate frisbee.
But this tournament was about more than just wins and losses. We forged strong bonds with our teammates from China, who shared the field with us throughout the tournament. Their experience and mentorship were invaluable, helping our young players grow and improve for the future. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Chinese friends for guiding and supporting us, and we eagerly look forward to reuniting with them in future tournaments.
The Skyrunners returned home, not with trophies, but with a wealth of lessons and improvement. We can’t wait to see how our players will take these experiences and turn them into even better performances in the future. The journey has only just begun.
