Meet the Team

Jimmy

Captain

Meet Jimmy, the 22-year-old captain of Skyrunner.

He started playing Ultimate Frisbee in 2018 but took a break during the pandemic. Now, he’s eager to reignite his passion for the sport alongside his new and young teammates. Jimmy loves watching frisbee matches, including UFA, WFDF, and USAU games, and enjoys listening to frisbee podcasts. As the Mekong Cup approaches, Jimmy is fired up, ready to showcase his young team’s potential while embracing every opportunity to learn from their expected mistakes. He’s excited about the bright future of Skyrunner.

Jon

Spirit Captain

Meet Jon, our Spirit Captain for the Mekong Cup.

With frisbee experience dating back to 2017, Jon has competed in numerous regional and local tournaments, including the Mekong Cup, MUO, CUO, and the Thailand Invitation. He’s passionate about training young players, with a special focus on female empowerment. Jon is collaborating closely with the coach and team advisor to recruit more female players for next season. His primary goal for this Mekong Cup is to ensure that our young players experience the excitement and lessons a tournament brings, while building lasting connections with teams from across Asia.

Jason

Meet Jason, the backbone of our team. He’s been playing Ultimate since 2018, but it’s only recently that his disc-handling skills and deep offensive play have truly flourished.

While Jason enjoys other sports like football and basketball, his passion for Ultimate stands out in his drive to continuously improve and grow as a player. He has competed in numerous local and regional tournaments, including the Mekong Cup, MUO, CUO, Thailand Invitation, and various Hat tournaments like Bangkok Hat, Vietnam Hat, and Chiang Mai Hat. As the upcoming Mekong Cup approaches, Jason is expected to shine, both in leading his teammates and serving as a key role model for the younger players on the team.

Kimlang

Meet Kimlang, one of our newest female players. She just started playing Ultimate at the beginning of this school year and is already completely hooked.

Although she’s played other sports before, nothing has kept her as engaged and motivated as Frisbee. Unfortunately, due to Cambodia’s BACII High School Exit Exam falling on the same weekend as the Mekong Cup, our female players, including Kimlang, won’t be able to attend this year. However, this hasn’t stopped her from practicing and improving her skills. Kimlang is a natural athlete, known for her agility and quick flick. We’re excited to see her growth in the coming years as she continues her journey with skyrunner.

Sandra

Meet Rasure, or Ras as he’s known on the field. He’s been playing Ultimate for the past two years and has competed in several regional tournaments.

This will be his second Mekong Cup, and he’s eager to showcase his improved disc-handling skills. Over the past year, Ras has made significant strides, both in his confidence and abilities. He’s fast, strong, and a dependable teammate. Ras is ready to give it his all and score some points, but he’s equally excited about meeting new players and building friendships. Above all, he’s looking forward to having fun with his teammates and showing them the ropes at the tournament.

Kimlang

Meet Both, also known as Benny on the field. Benny has been playing Frisbee for a few years, but it wasn’t until recently that he committed to taking the sport seriously.

We’re proud of Benny for his determination to prove he has what it takes to excel, and excel he has. Over the past few months, he’s impressed us with his powerful hucks and sharp cuts. Just recently, he challenged one of the tallest and most experienced players in a sky jump. This isn’t Both’s first tournament, but he’s especially excited for this Mekong Cup, as he finally has a team he’s proud to call his own, ready to share in the fun and experiences both on and off the field.

Jason

Meet Chata, our veteran and powerhouse player. She’s joining us for yet another Mekong Cup, and with her wealth of experience in disc handling, we’re confident she’ll make us proud.

Chata’s Ultimate journey began as a young girl at a Frisbee camp run by the Youth Ultimate Project, and she’s practically grown up in the sport. Guided by her older sister, Chata has evolved into a formidable player. Not only is she a role model for many young girls just starting their Ultimate journey, but she’s also made a name for herself at numerous international tournaments. We’re thrilled to have Chata with us this year and are committed to supporting her as she continues to grow and excel in the sport of Ultimate Frisbee.

Jasper

Meet Jasper, our incredible cutter and handler. He began training for Ultimate Frisbee as a junior in high school, playing on and off before the pandemic put things on hold.

Now, after a long break, Jasper is back on the field, regularly working on his body and footwork. Anyone who’s seen his runs and cuts can’t help but be impressed by how quickly he’s improved, all thanks to his unwavering mindset and determination to grow. Though typically quiet and preferring to stay behind the scenes, Jasper is ready to step into the spotlight with his new teammates for this tournament. He’s definitely a player to watch out for.

Ching Hong

Meet Ching Hong, our newest female recruit. Before discovering Ultimate Frisbee, Ching Hong never thought she’d enjoy any sport, especially one that had boys and girls playing together.

That all changed when she found Frisbee during her senior year of high school. She’s embraced the sport wholeheartedly, learning everything from throwing techniques to improving her speed on the field. Though still a newcomer, her rapid progress has made her one of the fastest-growing players on our team. She loves the game so much that she even sleeps with a disc by her side and dreams about Frisbee! Unfortunately, Ching Hong won’t be able to join us for the Mekong Cup this year due to her high school exams, but she’s excited to see her team compete internationally. She’s determined to keep training, so when the next tournament comes around, she’ll be read – body, mind, and soul.

Reach

Meet Reach, known as Be on the field. At just 16, Be is our youngest player and has only been playing Ultimate for a year.

Despite his age, his rapid skill development has amazed everyone who’s worked with him. He’s lightning-fast on both offense and defense, and his ability to quickly grasp new lessons has impressed the coach — earning him the recent title of “best player of the night.” Be is also Jason’s younger brother, and it’s clear the talent runs in the family. We’re thrilled for Be as he prepares to attend his first tournament in Bangkok. If he’s accomplished this much in such a short time, we can only imagine how far he’ll soar in the next 3 to 5 years. Keep an eye on Be!

Vandy

Meet Vandy, a fast-handed handler who has been playing Ultimate for several years. He’s competed in multiple tournaments, including last year’s Mekong Cup in Vietnam.

Despite balancing his time between school and practice, Vandy has made significant strides in improving his disc-handling skills. This tournament is his moment to showcase his newly honed abilities in both offense and defense. Vandy’s commitment to growth and advancement is undeniable. He’s constantly pushing himself to master new techniques, and his determination to be a reliable teammate is evident in every game.

Sofie

Meet Sofie, our talented left-handed handler. With her confidence and experience, we are grateful to have Sofie join us this year at the Mekong Cup.

Her athleticism and ability to execute precise attacks on the field make her a formidable opponent. Beyond her competitive edge, Sofie is a friendly role model for many of the younger girls on the team. We deeply appreciate her kindness and willingness to mentor and support our rising players with her wealth of knowledge and experience. Sofie’s commitment to excellence shines through in every practice and game. She’s always pushing herself to improve, constantly refining her techniques and strategies. Her determination to be the best player she can be, combined with her leadership and mentorship, makes her an invaluable asset to the team.d, she’ll be read – body, mind, and soul.

Harry

Meet Harry, one of our youngest recruits this year. Though this is Harry’s first year playing Ultimate, you’d never guess it by watching him on the field.

With impressive throws, powerful hucks, and sharp cuts, Harry could easily challenge more advanced players. His passion for the sport has ignited a new side of him, helping him break out of his usual shy personality. Known for being quiet, Harry has found his voice through Frisbee, using the game to showcase his skills and potential. We’re thrilled to introduce him to the world of tournaments at the Mekong Cup, and we have no doubt he’ll make us proud. We’re excited to see how far Harry will go as he continues to train hard in the coming years.

Thavory

Meet Thavory, our determined first-year female player. What started as a casual hobby for fun with friends quickly turned into a life-changing passion for her.

Thavory loves everything about Ultimate Frisbee, not only does it keep her active and healthy, but it also gives her a strength she never knew she had. Her commitment and determination to improve are evident in her constant drive to grow as a player. Unfortunately, she can’t join us for the Mekong Cup due to her High School Exams, but that hasn’t stopped her from attending practices whenever possible, even against the coach’s advice to avoid injury before her exams. Her dedication is unwavering, and we’re incredibly proud of her will to push forward. We know she’ll go far in the years to come.

Brain

Meet Brian, our fastest learner to date. If you watched him play from the sidelines, you’d never guess he’s only been handling a disc for a few months

His growth has been nothing short of incredible, a transformation that’s rarely seen. Brian took the initiative to train on his own, quickly mastering the basics of throwing and improving every day. Though he still has much to learn, especially in terms of team dynamics, his potential to become a top player is undeniable, given how rapidly he’s progressed. The Mekong Cup will be Brian’s first tournament, and he’s eager to absorb every lesson so he can come back stronger and elevate both himself and his team. Keep an eye on him because he’s on track to make a big name for himself.

Jully

This is Jully, a rugby player turned Frisbee enthusiast. Her love for sports is evident on the field, where she competes fiercely against other players.

Coming from rugby, Jully is no stranger to competition, though she had to adjust because Ultimate is a non-contact sport. Despite a knee injury limiting her training time, her commitment to improving her skills shines through in her hard work and determination. We admire her fierce personality and competitive spirit on the field, and while we’re sad she can’t join us at the Mekong Cup due to her exams, we know she’ll come back stronger. We can’t wait to see the fire and passion she’ll bring when she returns!

Vireak

Meet Vireak, a math teacher to most of these players and a recent addition to the world of Ultimate.

With a background in football, Vireak initially joined the team to connect with his students on a deeper level. However, his casual involvement soon grew into a genuine passion for Ultimate Frisbee. Now a regular at trainings, Vireak has become a role model for many of his students. In just a year, his speed and catching skills have developed remarkably. Though he faced some challenges adjusting to a new sport, Vireak has proven to be a fast learner on the field.

He believes that meaningful connections with students can extend beyond the classroom, and Ultimate has become a powerful tool for strengthening those bonds. As the new school year approaches, we’re excited to see how Vireak continues to use his love for the game to inspire his students both on and off the field. Keep an eye out for Vireak as he navigates this new sport and builds even stronger connections with his students.

Kimly

This is Kimly, who was initially recruited as our team photographer.

We brought him on board at the beginning of the year because of his photography skills, knowing he had some interest in Frisbee, especially with his older brother having trained with us before. What we didn’t expect was Kimly’s remarkable ability to grasp and grow in the sport so quickly that we had to include him in the roster for the Mekong Cup. His natural talent for reading space, zone, and the disc is extraordinary; he just always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Now, Kimly has become an essential part of our team. Though still a young player, he has already earned his place on the team and is going to make a name for himself in the Ultimate community.

Raksmey

Meet Raksmey, our fierce new recruit. Smey had never played any serious sports before discovering Ultimate, but now it’s the only game she wants to play.

Although she’s unable to join us for the Mekong Cu, despite her eagerness to do so, Smey has quickly proven to be a valuable addition to our team. She has a natural ability to read the disc, make smart cuts, and position herself perfectly on the field. Though still a young player, her determination to improve and her unmatched potential for someone her age set her apart. We’re excited to see how Smey grows in the coming years as she gains confidence and truly finds her place on the field.

Kheang

Meet Kheang, our fastest runner on the field. While he’s still refining his throwing skills, his speed and catching ability are undeniable.

At first glance, you might not guess that Kheang is an athlete, but once he discovered Ultimate, his love for running became clea, and run he can! Unfortunately, he won’t be able to join us at the Mekong Cup due to his national exam, but he’s been training whenever possible. His passion for Ultimate is so strong that he’s even considering staying local for college just so he can continue playing. With his determination and love for the game, we know Kheang has the potential to become an outstanding player, and we can’t wait to see how he develops in the years to come.

Bossba

Meet Bossba, one of our “never-played-any-sport-before” female players.

Pushing herself physically in training has been a real challenge for her, but she never gives up. Her determination and strong sense of teamwork keep her coming back every weekend, eager to improve. Bossba may not charge as fast as others, but with her “slow and steady wins the race” mindset, she consistently finds herself in the right position to make key plays. Many of her scores come from those “out of nowhere” moments, and we are thrilled to have her on the team. We know she has what it takes to succeed, and though her progress might be gradual, we believe she’ll reach her full potential in her own time.

Raksmey

Although she’s unable to join us for the Mekong Cu, despite her eagerness to do so, Smey has quickly proven to be a valuable addition to our team.
